Currently we're sourcing beans from both Colombia and Ethiopia.
Colombia was selected for its versatility: it's heavy enough to punch through milk based drinks in cafes yet sweet enough to shine on its own in an individual cup.
Ethiopia was selected for its abundant sweetness, juicy mouthfeel and complexity.
Our coffee is not fair trade. Treating farmers fairly goes way beyond minimum prices, and Fair Trade doesn't reach these other areas. What's more, in many cases Fair Trade removes any incentive to produce quality coffee or establish relationships with farmers themselves.
Instead, we work with the Genuine Origin Coffee Project. Genuine Origin provides field assistance, business classes and agronomy training at no cost to the farmer who in turn, is able to reach more buyers with his crops.
